Volkswagen Badge Thefts

I wanted to reach out and make you aware of an ongoing linked series of theft from motor vehicle offences targeting Volkswagen vehicles. It appears criminals are removing the Volkswagen badge at the front of the vehicle and unplugged the component, known as a “Radar Sensor”, which affects the vehicles Start/Stop function and also the cruise control.

The component has a cost to replace and it is believed the parts are then sold on via marketplace websites or used on salvage type vehicles due to the cost of the part. Currently there is no known protection that we can advise other than to be aware of any suspicious activity around your vehicle, if you own a Volkswagen, and to report any such incidents including if you sadly become a victim of this theft.
